Our Wildlife Tours Northern Tasmania departs 9.30 am from Launceston and travels to the beautiful Meander Valley to visit Trowunna Wildlife Park for a private tour to meet the Tasmanian devils, spotted tailed quolls, wombats, and other Tasmanian wildlife species. Café Lunch. Travel the fertile Tamar Valley to Platypus House for a tour focusing on the fascinating monotreme duo of platypus and echidnas and be amazed about the biology of both mammals and how they live.
Day 1 – Optional Evening Platypus & Canopy Capers Tour
The hunt is on for the fascinating and elusive platypus before travelling to a nearby cabin in the forest for a campfire dinner and a nocturnal wildlife tour. Relax to the afternoon sounds of the bush chorus from the forest birds; enjoy a campfire dinner of local produce with a Tassie beverage in hand before the sun sets when you take a guided walk into the forest to see the clingers and climbers of the Tassie bush.
The Nocturnal Forest Tour – As the sun goes down, hear the chuckling of kookaburras, and take an enchanted walk under the stars for an understanding and appreciation of wildlife movements in the Tasmanian bush. Experience the excitement and magic as nocturnal creatures appear from the bushes and trees in search of some tasty bush offerings.
Overnight: Beulah Heritage In Scottsdale
Dinner – At own arrangements at a local eatery or Canopy Capers campfire dinner on tour
Day 2 – Ben Lomond & Quoll Patrol
10.30-11.00 am departure to hunt for the elusive platypus in their natural habitat and visit Ben Lomond National Park, a spectacular mountain of dolerite columns and scree slopes. See impressive views and a stunning array of alpine vegetation. We travel via the Roses Tier forests or Tombstone Creek Forest Reserve to the Tyne Valley for a campfire dinner with the kangaroos.
The Campfire Dinner – With the forester kangaroos as your dinner companions, enjoy the ambience of campfire dining with a 3-course dinner consisting of Tasmanian tasting platter of cheeses and smoked meats followed by Bush Pattie Yummo Gumbo or Native Spice Salmon/Salad with dessert to finish. Settle back and relax with a Tassie beverage and watch the sun set and see our field of dreams come alive.
Nocturnal Wildlife Viewing – You will be delighted and enchanted while sitting by the campfire as the wildlife appear at dusk. Forester kangaroos, eastern quolls, Tasmanian pademelons and brush-tail possums feed near the campfire while Bennett’s wallabies and wombats graze close by. At times, platypus, tawny frogmouths, bandicoots, and owls can also be viewed. Return to your accommodation 8.00 – 11.00 pm (seasonal)
