Day Trips From Launceston – Tasmanian Day Tour
Ben Lomond & Campfire Lunch with the Kangaroos
National Park & Campfire Lunch – Wine & Dine, Forest Discoveries and Kangaroos
The Experience – Taking a food and wine experience on the road
Taking day trips from Launceston…that’s as Tassie as you can get! A day in the wilderness on this Tasmanian day tour while visiting the magnificent craggy alpine peaks and dolerite columns of Ben Lomond National Park before moving on for a relaxing afternoon of wining and dining by the campfire with the kangaroos.
Ben Lomond National Park
The spectacular Ben Lomond plateau is the largest alpine plateau in Tasmania, and is a mountain environment with extensive and dramatic dolerite cliffs and columns; you’ll want to add it one of your day trips from Launceston, for sure. Its scree slopes, swirling mists and frost-stunted forests are reminiscent of a Tolkien landscape. In departing Launceston or Scottsdale, we travel diverse landscapes before arriving at the Base of Ben Lomond. In making the climb we drive up Jacobs Ladder, a series of hairpin bends to marvel at the breath-taking view from the platform at the top. The Ben Lomond plateau has 8 of the 20 highest peaks in Tasmania and it has the highest drivable point in Tasmania where Bennett’s wallaby and wombats may be seen in daylight hours.
The Roses Tier Bush Spice Store
Leaving Ben Lomond, we travel via the backroads of Roses Tier plantation and native forests where forests consist of tree and understory species that are native to Tasmania. The forest of native bush has a complex and diverse ecosystem comprising communities of species, fungi, insects and fauna, and the relationships between them.
Pepper Bush utilises Tasmanian native spices to add local flavour to campfire meals. In our travels through the Roses Tier forests, we stop along the way to forage for sassafras and native pepper forest spices to add a bush flavour to your lunch.
The Campfire Lunch with Tassie Beverages
With the forester kangaroos as your lunch companions, enjoy the ambience of campfire dining with a 4 course lunch consisting of Tasmanian tasting platter of cheeses and smoked meats followed by wallaby mountain burgers and native spiced salmon with dessert to finish. Settle back and relax with a Tassie beer or wine on a relaxing afternoon. Menu can be flexible.
Make it one of your highlights and one of your top day trips from Launceston…you won’t be disappointed.
