Mt. William National Park
Mt William National Park features sparkling granite boulders covered with bright orange lichen, long sandy beaches and clear blue seas with bird and wildlife species throughout. Take a stroll along the beaches, lunch with the Bennett’s wallabies and the many resident bird species. After lunch an optional 60 minute return walk to the summit of Mt William is on offer for 360 degree views of the Park. The park is home to forester kangaroos & wombats and wedge tail eagles are often viewed soring over the park and echidnas are a frequent roadside find.
Little Blue Lake
We visit Little Blue Lake – a natural phenomenon resulting from the regions alluvial tin mining and pioneering days. Originally a mining hole, the lake reflects a vivid aqua blue from the minerals in its base.
En route to or return from Mt William we visit a disused mining tunnel. There are some unique inhabitants in the tunnel – glow worms are one of our country’s greatest spectacles. In the darkness these luminescent larvae sparkle like stars in the sky. The Tasmanian cave spider can also be viewed. With an adult 18 cm leg span, these spiders are tough, and probably live for decades.
